   Biography - Coach Mark

British Triathlon Federation Level 3 coach

ASA Swimming Coach

Mark has been involved in triathlon since 1988, as a competitor, event director, team manager, sponsor and coach (since 2006). He started out competing in sprint and Olympic distance triathlons, making the age group team on a couple of occasions. In 2002, after completing the famous Nice long course race in France he switched focus to the Ironman.

After finishing four straight Ironman Germany events it was time to try 70.3 racing. In his first 70.3 event at Ralphs (California 2007) he qualified for the Ironman 70.3 World Championships (Clearwater Florida). Mark had a lean time after suffering illness and serious injury during the 2008 - 2009 seasons (following a bike crash), but bounced back, and returned to Clearwater in 2010. In 2007, Mark also competed at the ITU World and European long distance championships, with top 20 finishes at both. "I have a passion for long distance racing that drives me to focus my coaching efforts on helping athletes to achieve their goals in Ironman and 70.3 racing”

Biography - Tracey

Tracey came to competitive sports relatively late in life, having been a self-confessed couch potato all through school and university.  At 28, fed up with trying to lose weight through numerous diets, she joined a gym, learnt to swim and bought her first racing bike.  She also raced her first triathlon that year, finishing dead last but loving every moment of it!

More About Tracey

The triathlon bug took hold and finding a passion for training (with a resulting weight loss!), saw her qualify for the 1998 ITU Olympic Distance world championships, just two years after her first race!

Tracey raced short course for the next few years, but in 2000 raced her first half-ironman event and, despite a lot of adversity, finished in a respectable 5.20.  In 2003, Tracey raced IM Germany, her first Ironman and the long course bug took hold.  She has completed five Ironman races, including winning her AG at IM Germany in 2005 and at IMUK in 2006 and has qualified for the Ironman World Championships twice (finishing 9th in her AG in 2005 in 10.41).   She has also medalled at the European and World Long Course World Championships in 2007 and in the same year placed 8th in her AG at the Ironman 70.3 World Championships (finishing in 4.42).

Tracey enjoys the challenge of working with athletes who are new to the sport as well as coaching competitive age group athletes seeking their personal best and striving to reach new goals in their sport.

"My hope is to work with motivated athletes who have careers, families and personal goals they desire to reach in the sport of long course triathlon."
